I enjoy teaching beginner and advanced music to children and to adults. I was introduced to the piano at three years of age and it soon became my passion to play and perform. Teaching naturally followed and I found sharing music at the piano to be fun and rewarding. As a teacher I aim to communicate well and connect with my students.
Music is for everyone and with a flexible and personal approach I can accommodate different learning styles. I have a lot of fun teaching piano and I find great joy in seeing (and hearing) students reach their goals. As a member of the BC Registered Music Teachers Association and an associate of the Victoria Conservatory of Music, students can take part in master classes, concerts, festivals and exams.
I have two piano performance degrees including an ARCT from the Royal Conservatory of Music and a LBCM from the BC Conservatory of Music, and an AVCM piano teaching degree from the Victoria Conservatory of Music. I've studied with Josephine Butler, Marjorie Eeles, Eva Kinderman, Susan Olsen and Winifred Wood.
Lesson and Registration Information
I believe that in a fun and encouraging environment students can reach their highest potential of musical excellence. Comprehensive music programs are tailored to individual goals. New students are taught proper piano technique and the fundamentals of music to ensure a strong foundation and the ability to play for a lifetime. More experienced students can choose a classical program including Royal Conservatory of Music exams and eventually high school fine art credits, or other genres such as popular, jazz, lead sheet, chording or a combination. Technique, ear training, sight reading and theory are woven into every lesson. Students also have the opportunity to take part in master classes, concerts, festivals and exams.
